ESWT
ESWT is referred to "Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy" in English or briefly to "Shock Therapy." With spark gap technology, it is a “non-invasive” method based on the principle that any shock waves occurred out of the body focus by means of a steel dish antenna on any desired are of the body in an ellipsoid shape.
Furthermore, this method is referred to "Ossa-Therapy" in Europe and "OrthoTripsy" in USA. Shock Therapy is divided into two: Shock waves having high energy and low energy. The devices having high energy and based on the electro-hydraulic energy principle enable many times high pressure and ten times high energy in a very short time (1 microsecond) in comparison to the devices having low energy and based on the ultrasonic, electromagnetic and piezoelectric energy principle.
Most apparent difference of the device having high and low energy in clinical practice is that the devices having high energy to apply a higher amount of energy and to achieve a higher success ration with a less number of sessions.
